The Reasonable
Faith Story
2006
Reasonable Faith was founded in 2006 by philosopher and theologian Dr. William Lane Craig. Its mission is to provide an articulate, intelligent, uncompromising, yet gracious defense of the Christian faith in the public arena.
Although the formal organization began in 2006, Dr. Craig’s personal ministry was already rooted in decades of academic work, public debates, and teaching. In its early years, Reasonable Faith began primarily as a digital ministry centered around a website and the Reasonable Faith Podcast, making philosophical and theological resources accessible to people around the world.
2010
As interest in the ministry grew, Reasonable Faith began expanding its efforts to equip believers more directly, finding that Christians who engage in apologetics often feel alone without a community. In 2010, the first two Reasonable Faith Chapters were launched in Dallas and Tulsa, beginning what would become a global network of local groups dedicated to thoughtful Christian apologetics and community. Today, more than 260 Reasonable Faith Chapters can be found in dozens of countries around the world!
2011
With the success and proliferation of online video content, Reasonable Faith recognized the ministry opportunity to expand into such a space. In 2011, the YouTube channel ReasonableFaithorg was launched, where the vast majority of Dr. Craig's lectures, debates, podcasts, interviews, panels, and events would live in video form. Today, this channel has published nearly 1,500 videos garnering a total of 3.3. million hours of viewership and 16.6 million views.
2013
In 2012, seeing how impactful short, animated videos could be at a conference in Dallas, TX, Reasonable Faith went to work on creating videos of its own based on Dr. Craig’s book On Guard. In 2013, it launched its first animated video on the Kalam Cosmological Argument. These animations quickly became one of the ministry’s most widely shared resources, making complex philosophical arguments clear and accessible. Since then, more than twenty animations have been produced and viewed by millions of people worldwide.
2022
As the ministry’s content library continued to grow, it became clear a guided pathway was necessary. Reasonable Faith launched the Equip platform in September 2022 to provide this clear pathway. Today, over 12,000 people are utilizing these free courses to grow in their discipleship and share their faith with greater confidence.
2026
To commemorate these past twenty years, we have invited chapter directors, ministry leaders, and friends from around the world to share how Dr. Craig and the ministry of Reasonable Faith have impacted their lives and work. Their reflections here tell a small part of the larger story of what God has done through this ministry over the past two decades.
